Quiz of the Day - 22 May 2012

Roger Verdi
A visual question from the field of football (or soccer) for today's daily quiz.
Identify the footballer shown in the image on the right side, who has played primarily in the CONCACAF region. This photo was taken in the year 1974, when he was a part of the Miami Toros in the North American Soccer League (NASL), in which, the likes of Pele also competed.
Answer: Sorry to say that nobody could come up with the correct answer.
The player in the picture is Rajinder Singh Virdee, better known as Roger Verdi. Born in Kenya, of Indian Sikh parents, he changed his name in order to escape racial bias prevalent in those days. In the North American Soccer League (NASL), Verdi competed against players of the calibre of Pele and Beckenbauer and appeared in over 100 games.
